"The blood of a unicorn will keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death, but at a terrible price. You have slain something pure and defenseless to save yourself, and you will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips." —Firenze the Centaur
Lord Voldemort used thick, silvery unicorn blood in an attempt to gain power and strength in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. It was Harry who stumbled upon him, while serving detention in the Forbidden Forest during his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We teamed up with our friends over at The Enchantment Box to recreate it, as we imagine it should taste. Here’s our take on unicorn blood— both curse-free and vegan friendly!
makes 1 drink
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz Lillet blanc
1/2 oz marasquin or maraschino liqueur (we used Cristiani)
1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 oz champagne (we used Veuve Clicquot Brut)
1/3 tsp of CK Luster Dust in Nu Silver
1 maraschino cherry, for garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Into the shaker, add the vodka, Lillet blanc, maraschino liqueur, and lemon juice. Shake well!
Strain into a goblet, top with champagne.
Add luster dust, and stir. It may settle while you sip, we recommend using a stirrer or a Lord Voldemort paper straw like we did!
Garnish with a maraschino cherry. Cheers!
